This qualification addresses work in residential group homes, training resource centres, day respite centres and open employment services, other community settings and clients’ homes.
These workers:
- Apply knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience provide training and support to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance and community participation.
- Report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service agencies.
- May work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified workers.
Victoria and Perth – Online:
This course takes 630 hours which includes attending completing e-learning modules, 200 hours of work placement plus self-directed study. Six days of practical sessions are also required at our campus.

DTWD WA Funding Fee Structure
The modes of delivery intended for this course are:
1) E-Learning (Online Delivery).
2) Students are required to complete a simulated practical session and assessment for 4 days.
If the student did not achieve the required competency; additional sessions may require.
3) Work Experience Placement.
Candidates may progress to a higher level of qualifications within and/or across the community sector. In addition, pathways within disability sector are identified as below;
CHC40308 Certificate IV in Disability ==>> CHC50108 Diploma of Disability ==>> CHC60108 Advance Diploma of Disability

Applicants seeking entry in to this course should meet the following criteria.
- Applicants should be 18 years or over at enrolment.
- Have successfully completed year 10 of secondary school or equivalent or be of mature age.
- Communication: applicants should be able to use and respond to written language including some unfamiliar material in a variety of contexts.
- Applicants are required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test (LLN) and attend an interview session during enrolment.
- A Satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate will be required for the work experience placement.
- Working with Children Check, Vaccination/Immunization Certificate and Proof of Immunity (e.g. serology test results) shall be required for Work Experience Placement, as applicable.
- Applicants planning to do e-Learning must have access to a computer with internet and basic computer skills.
- No prerequisite units of competency.
