CHC40208 Certificate IV in Home and Community Care qualification addresses work in client homes, aged care facility and other community settings under regular supervision within clearly defined organizational guidelines and service plans.
These workers:
- Carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people in their own homes, aged care facilities or in other community settings.
- Carry out activities related to an individualized plan.
- Report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers.
The duration of this course is 720 hours including 120 hours of work experience placement.

DTWD WA Funding Fee Structure
The modes of delivery intended for this course are:
1) E-Learning (Online Delivery).
2) Students are required to complete a simulated practical session and assessment for 4 days.
If the student did not achieve the required competency; additional sessions may require.
3) Work Experience Placement.
There is no applicable pathway in to this qualification. Candidates may progress to higher level qualifications within and/or across the community sector.

Students are expected to complete CHC30308 Certificate III in Home and Community Care or equivalent courses prior to start of this program.
To gain entry into CHC40208 Certificate IV in Home and Community Care, a candidate must be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the compulsory units from CHC30308 Certificate III in Home and Community Care (or equivalent):

Students seeking entry in to this course are expected to meet the following.
- Applicants should be 18 years or over at enrolment.
- Have successfully completed year 12 of secondary school or the equivalent.
- Communication: applicants should be able to use and respond to written language including some unfamiliar material with a variety of contexts.
- Applicants are required to complete a Language, Literacy & Numeracy test during enrolment.
- Students planning to do E-learning must have access to a computer with internet and have basic computer skills.
- A Satisfactory Police Clearance Certificate will be required for work experience placement.
- Working with Children Check, Vaccination/Immunization Certificate and Proof of Immunity (e.g. serology test results) shall be required for Work Experience Placement, as applicable.
- Applicants not holding the units required for entry can complete them as a pre entry program at IHNA.
To gain entry into CHC40212 Certificate IV in Home and Community Care a candidate must be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following core units from CHC30312 Certificate III in Home and Community Care (or equivalent):
