CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support

Introduction

The CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialized tasks and functions in aged services. They work either in residential, hospital or community based environments and are required to take responsibility for their own work within defined organization guidelines.

They will also be required to maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. Workers will be required to demonstrate leadership and take responsibility for other team members.

The course modules are structured to provide a balanced program of theory and practice relevant to the career opportunities across the aged care industry.

The course is provided through Blended mode of delivery. It will be delivered over 875 hours including theory, self-paced structured e-learning, simulation training (120 hours) and 120 hours of work-based training/ professional experience placement (PEP).

Besides the above structured learning, students are advised that they will be required to do unstructured learning as assigned.

The simulation training is for review of the learning activities, practicing communication, work-based skills, management skills and to undertake other assessments e.g.: group presentation/individual presentation.

MODE OF DELIVERY

BLENDED

20 contact hours will be delivered through synchronised online learning which includes on- campus simulation based training and Professional experience placement.

Besides the above structured learning, students are advised that they will be required to do approximate 10 hours per week of unstructured learning.

  • 18 years of age and above at the time of commencement of the course
  • Satisfactory completion of studies in applicant’s home country equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification
  • Entry into this course requires IELTS band score of 5.5 or equivalent.Candidates from countries with student visa assessment levels 1 and 2 who do not need an IELTS score can take the LLN indicator test.   • Apart from the above entry requirements, students are expected to have a numeracy score of Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) at level 3. (Language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) test will be conducted during orientation)

  • Simulation Based Assessments (SBA)
