What is Census Date? Why is it important and how does it affect student fee liability?
A census day is a date by which a student’s enrolment in the course or part of the course can be cancelled without the student incurring tuition fees for the course or part of the course. Although a student requests a loan for a course, the student becomes financially liable for the tuition fees on a ‘part of a course’ (or unit of study) basis at the end of the census day for that unit.
How is it calculated?
The census date is calculated based on the below formula
(start date of the unit – Semester end date)*0.2 + start date of the unit.
