This course is designed for aged care workers who provide physical and emotional aid to elderly people who need support in their daily living. The degree of assistance that is needed differs for each individual, and depends on the ability and health of the client. Aged care workers offer assistance in carrying out simple daily tasks such as showering, dressing, and eating, and also complete specialized tasks and functions in aged services.

Aged care workers provide care either in residential, home or community based environments, and carry out their duties under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined care plans or organisational guidelines. They may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the outputs of others within some parameters.
