The HLT47315 Certificate IV in Health Administration is designed to provide the requisite knowledge and skills to individuals who work in a senior operational or team leading role in the health industry. Professionals working in Health Administration undertake various administrative and operational tasks under direct or indirect supervision.

This course aims to produce competent, confident, critically thinking Health Administrators who are equipped with a nationally accredited qualification and can practice at a senior operational or team leading role in health administration under direct or indirect supervision. They may then gain employment as Health Administration Staff in settings such as Medical Centres, Hospitals, Clinics, Maternal Health Care Centres, and other Community Health Care settings, among others.

Course Overview

HLT47315 - Certificate IV in Health Administration

This course will be delivered and assessed over 52 weeks (structured over four terms).

This course is delivered in Blended mode: combination of on-campus, online and simulation procedures at an IHNA campus (Not for international students).

Students enrolled for on-campus mode of delivery attend the sessions at IHNA.

Students enrolled for the blended mode of delivery progress through the studies as per the structured delivery schedule referring to the E-learning platform and academic hub prior to proceeding with simulation training. They will undertake approximately 20 hours per week of study at home, with the aid of study guides and online materials through the IHNA E-learning platform. Every term there is a mandatory two days simulation work shop at an IHNA campus.

Delivery will be Face-to-Face and Blended Mode:

2. Simulation Based Training and SBA at an IHNA campus

80 hours of placements

IHNA has in place admission criteria for courses in its scope as required by its ‘Application and Enrolment Procedure for VET Courses’ to ensure that candidates meet industry requirements.

•  Applicants are required to be 18 years old and above and need to be Secondary School year 10 pass,
OR
•  Be of mature age which can be demonstrated by a candidate who is at least of 21 years and has a qualification at Certificate II level or higher or has 2 years industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication.

In addition, all the applicants are required to have successfully completed an ACSF test and demonstrate competence as working at Level 3 for all indicators to enrol for this qualification (issued within the last 12 months from the time of admission).

Additional Requirement for professional experience placement:
Satisfactory National police clearance / AFP/ NCC,
IHNA highly recommends students to complete the immunization requirements before the professional experience placement start date.

It is also essential for the student to possess basic computer skills.

Physical requirements

While IHNA will work with you to make "reasonable accommodations" in the campus lab and classroom, there are clinical practice conditions that occur in the workplace environment that are beyond IHNA control. The physical requirements below are necessary to function in the hospital and community health settings. Students must be able to perform and complete course objectives and requirements with or without reasonable accommodations. Additional skills and abilities are needed to perform patient/ resident care in the clinical settings to pass the course objectives and requirements.

Strength: Sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a patient, and perform CPR
Mobility: Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop, and bend down to the floor; ability to move around rapidly; and to move in small, confined areas.
Hearing: Sufficient to hear through the stethoscope to discriminate sounds; to hear cries for help; to hear alarms on equipment and emergency signals; and various overhead pages.
Vision: Sufficient to make physical assessments of patients and equipment.
Communication: Able to communicate in both verbal and written formats; and interact with clients, staff, and faculty supervisors.

Domestic students:
• Western Australia: AUD $3,800
• Victoria & New South Wales: AUD $2,800

Students eligible and opting for government funding must attend 20 hours of classroom sessions per week. Students failing to attend the classroom sessions will not be able to avail the funding and will be required to pay the full course fees.
