Course Overview

Train to become an Enrolled Nurse (EN) with a balance of classroom learning and hands-on practice. In the HLT54121 – Diploma of Nursing, you’ll build skills in IHNA’s simulation labs and strengthen them through Professional Experience Placement (PEP) in a clinical environment — supporting care across settings including acute care, aged care, rehab and mental health, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites. To enrol, you'll need to meet the entry and placement requirements below.

IHNA Admission Requirements
  • Education: Successful completion of Australian Year 12 (or equivalent), or a relevant pathway qualification (e.g., Certificate III/IV in HLT or CHC).
  • Age: 18 years or over at course commencement.
  • LLND assessment: Successful completion of the Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment, demonstrating competence at ACSF Exit Level 3 (reading and numeracy).
  • English language skills: Meet NMBA English language skills requirements (where applicable).¹
  • Digital literacy: Basic computer skills (e.g., email, online learning platforms, documents).
Professional Experience Placement (PEP) requirements

To attend placement, students must meet industry requirements, including:

  • National Police Check (NCC or AFP)
  • Immunisation evidence (as required by placement providers)
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (if required by placement site)
  • Health & support needs declaration: Students must declare any condition, injury or medication that may require reasonable adjustments to support safe practice.

Mature age consideration

Applicants aged 22+ who have not completed Year 12 may be considered on a case-by-case basis based on relevant work/life experience and LLND outcomes.

Placement Duration

400 hours

Throughout your placement, you will gain clinical experience across a variety of environments, such as private and public hospitals, general practitioner clinics, and aged care facilities. Our placements are organized at a national level to ensure you receive a diverse range of experiences and ample exposure to the clinical field.

2.5 days/week or 4 Hours/day for 5 days (evening only)(Only for Domestic candidates)

2.5 days /or 20 hours/week for International and Domestic students.

NO, SBT, OSCA (Objective Structured Clinical Assessment) and PEP face to face on campus attendance mandatory and it is on Monday to Friday, 8.30 – 16.30. Minimum 4 weeks leave is required for every semester.

Yes, there is one day support session on each week. Apart from that there will be 24*7 online live support from student support team.

NO, we will organize the work placement for students. Arrangements are subject to availability.
