A VET Student Loan (VSL) is set up to assist students with their fees for vocational education and training (VET) courses.
VSLs are available strictly for approved courses only, at the diploma level and above. You will not be able to apply for a VSL for a Certificate IV level course or below.
You may compare VET courses, prices, and training providers at MySkills. Search for courses that are approved to offer a VET Student Loan on MySkills, by looking for the active ‘VSL’ logo. Note that all registered training organisations (RTOs) are not approved to offer VSLs. MySkills also shows a list of RTOs that are approved to offer VSLs.
There is a limit to how much you can borrow under VSLs, called the ‘loan cap’, and this limit is different depending on the course you study. In case your course fee is more than the loan cap, you must pay the difference between the course cost and the loan cap.
